Accessibility Contact
Our Accessibility Contact is Connie Brinda, Operations Director

Prime Stage and The New Hazlett Center for the Performing Arts are committed to making all events at the theater as inclusive as possible. We continually evaluate our environment and our staff to make enhancements so all patrons enjoy a welcoming, inclusive experience.

The New Hazlett Theater offers a limited number of handicapped parking spaces. On the east side of the building, you will find a wheelchair accessible ramp that will take you into the lobby.  A level pathway will take you from the lobby into the theater. For seating, multiple spaces in the front row of our seating banks can accommodate wheelchairs and companions.

With 48 hours prior notice, ALD services can be made available.  If you would like more information, have any questions, or would like to discuss special arrangements, please call Tyson Schrader at 412.320.4610.

For Student Matinees, please email Mary Windstein, the Prime Stage Education Box Office Manager  at when making your reservations to request what is needed.

What are "Chat Sessions"?
For public performances

Our “Chat Sessions” immediately follow our Saturday Night public performances and all Student Matinees.

On Saturday nights, you and your family can have Desserts with the Director and chat about the performance.

Look for discussion prompts in the playbills that you, your family and friends can talk about on the way home.

For Student matinee field trips

Our “Chat Sessions” immediately follow all Student Matinee performances. Chat sessions usually last about 15 minutes.  They provide students and teachers with an opportunity to ask the cast and crew questions about what they saw and felt during the play, about the literature on which the play is based, and about live theatre.

Our goal is to extend and deepen the experience for young people.

Is Prime Stage accessible to patrons with disabilities?

"The arts are a right, not a privilege...No citizen should be deprived of the beauty and insights into the human experience only the arts can impart."

- National Council on the Arts, 1973 Facility Access

The New Hazlett Theatre can easily accommodate mobility-impaired patrons. You may pull up to the theatre and have direct access to the box office, lobby and theatre. Ticket Refunds

Refunds for student matinee performances will be given only in the event that a school needs to cancel due to the conditions outlined in our "Inclement Weather" guidelines. NO REFUNDS are given for individuals who are unable to or choose not to attend a student matinee performance.

Inclement Weather Policy

Prime Stage Theatre maintains a firm policy of not cancelling performances due to weather. For this reason, we urge all ticket holders to make every effort to attend.

Student matinees - If you are unable to attend a performance due to school delay or cancellation, please call Prime Stage Education Box Office at 412-841-7353. We will make every effort to arrange another time for you to see that production. There is no guarantee, however, that seats for an alternate performance will be available.

In the case of school closings or delays due to inclement weather, we offer two options for schools who are not able to attend a scheduled matinee.

1) Prime Stage will credit the full purchase of tickets toward another available performance during the season or in the following season, or

2) Prime Stage will refund the tickets within 30 days of the cancelled performance.

A representative of the school must contact our Education Box Office Manager on the morning of the performance and then determine the selected option.
