Celebrates the heart-stirring original songs of award-winning composer and Broadway Alumna, Carla Bianco.

Our Monday Special is an evening of inspiring musical storytelling with Carla, as she shares some of her personal journey. Joined by her Point Park students, she will take you on a ride with unique and funny stories with songs from musical theater to pop/rock, all with the motif of a girl trying to find her voice, featuring the theme song for our world premiere of Speak, written by Carla.

Carla Bianco - Carla is a member of the Dramatist’s Guild and currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting and Screenwriting at Point Park University, where she is also an adjunct professor in voice and musical theatre. She is the proud recipient of an ASCAP Award for penning the #1 Billboard song and international hit, “The Lover That You Are”.

She is the composer and librettist for Kaleidoscope, an autobiographical musical which was selected for the ASCAP/Disney Musical Theater Workshop in Los Angeles directed by Stephen Schwartz, and subsequently led to staged readings and workshops at The Lillian Theater and The Blank Theater Company, both in Los Angeles and then, most recently was presented at The Pittsburgh Playhouse.

Carla’s stage adaptation of her short screenplay, Under the Gun, was selected by the Tiger Heart’s Players, a Global Theater Company, this past summer and presented for their 116th Lab Session. She also completed her first feature screenplay, Becoming Van Gogh, which is a quarterfinalist in the Outstanding Screenplays Feature Competition 2026 and also the Emerging Screenwriters Competition and is currently under consideration.

Carla got her start in the music business when she was discovered by Jellybean Benitez, who produced Madonna, and released Carla's first dance composition, "Not This Time" on Atlantic Records. She landed a 4-year publishing deal with House of Fun Music and went on to write several Billboard top ten hits like "Music Takes You" by Pulse and had songs licensed by Sony for Primetime TV shows.

As a performer, Carla is most known for her starring role as Maureen in the Pulitzer-Prize-winning show Rent, in the Los Angeles Premiere at the Ahmanson Theatre and on Broadway at the Nederlander. She has performed with national acts such as Kenny Loggins and Gino Vannelli. She also toured the East Coast where she debuted her cabaret show at 54 Below in NYC.Carla has released 3 studio albums and several singles as a Sony Orchard recording artist, where several of her critically acclaimed songs have received national radio airplay and recognition.

She has worked on Broadway, off-Broadway and regionally in many cutting edge and relevant shows working directly with the composer themselves.Some highlights include Spring Awakening, where she originated the role of Wendla, working with Duncan Sheik and Michael Mayer, in its early stages at Sundance Theatre Lab and also Do I Hear a Waltz at the Georgestreet Playhouse where Carla got to work with the legendary Arthur Laurents and present the revival for the composer himself, Stephen Sondheim.

A Fantasy Cabaret

Divina is a hilarious one-woman cabaret infused with comedy, storytelling, and famous opera arias. Regina Gibson stars as Mary, a woman stuck in dating hell waiting for a text back from yet another disappointing suitor. She fantasizes what her hero, opera diva and superstar Maria Callas, would do. When Maria does appear, we learn that sometimes in life, you just need to play by your own rules. The audience is led on a goofy fun-filled romp that explores the story of an unlikely duo who redefine what it is to be a leading lady on your own terms.

Regina Gibson (Writer/Performer) Regina is a New York based actor, singer, and writer. In addition to showing her original work at Dixon Place, United Solo Theater Festival, Stella Adler Lab Series, and NYC International Fringe Festival, her recent NYC credits include The Golden Bride (National Yiddish Opera Folksbiene), Leah in Leah, the Forsaken (Metropolitan Playhouse), Delta in The Sky with Diamonds (starring Austin Pendleton) Regional: Lathem Prince (DC Capital Festival), As You Like It (Connecticut Shakespeare), Charlotte’s Web (Theatreworks/USA). Stephanie Cunningham (Director) Stephanie is a theatre director and educator. With her work, she tries to promote the idea of theatre as accessible art and a tool for change. Recent NYC: The Viewing (New Light Theater Project); Keep, Swashbuckling Sam, Salt (Wide Eyed Productions); Butcher (Stella Adler Studio). Currently she is on faculty at the New School University, is a Curriculum Specialist with the Julliard School, and is the Artistic Director of Wide Eyed Productions in New York City, www.stephaniecunningham.com.
