Prime Stage Theatre Presents our Monday Special:
Saving Face: Memoir of a Circus Clown
CATEGORY: SPECIAL EVENT
Presented by Mike Perry
Great Storytelling that you don’t want to miss!
Monday, May 6, 2024. 7:00-8:00 p.m.
New Hazlett Theater, 6 Allegheny Square East, Pittsburgh PA 15212
Interview: WQED: Voice of the Arts - Mike Perry - Saving Face: Memoir of a Circus Clown
Article: Local Pittsburgh: Mike Perry premieres “Saving Face: Memoir of a Circus Clown”
Tickets: $27 adults; $17 for students
Mike Perry uses the art of storytelling to explore the primal origins of theatrical expression. Saving Face: Memoir of a Circus Clown is one of his most profound and moving tales, drawn from his years as a circus clown for Ringling Brothers Circus.
“There is an authenticity to Mike Perry’s storytelling that is effective and affecting. His ability to distill a real human experience into an engaging performance is the result of craft and precision.”
Says Perry:
"Once upon a time, a child would say I’m afraid, and the adult would say, 'It’s okay.' Today, a child picks up a phone and says I’m afraid, and an algorithm says, 'Yes, you are, and here’s why.' In the digital algorithm age people are being told what they like, and curiosity is suffering as a result."
Saving Face: Memoir of a Circus Clown is a chance to re-ignite your own curiosity about how we see the world when we forget someone else is watching.
